Welcome to Wood Badge 2135 From our Course Director Rebecca Koss
It’s almost time for our Wood Badge experience to begin. Each of us — staff and attendees — will come to this course with our own unique life and Scouting experiences and knowledge. As leaders, parents, and employees, we face challenges and opportunities each day in our lives. Hopefully we can make choices to improve our results, to learn from the experiences and to enjoy each day. As you start this journey you will each face and be introduced to new information, new challenges, and new ideas. You will have the opportunity to make decisions and choices on what action to take. So as you begin Wood Badge, will you embrace change or resist it? We would ask that you think like a new Cub Scout, as they are excited to join a pack and get ready for the first meeting. Be the curious Cub Scout again and go in with your eyes open and ready to learn new things, go on new adventures, try new activities and be ready to have some fun! Come prepared to embrace new ideas, learn from the experience of others on the course, and be open to the content you are about to hear. Most of all— be willing to welcome change and have fun. As your staff, we are glad you have decided to join us and we are ready to guide you and help you along this path. We are looking forward to meeting each of you and getting to know you better during our time together. The Wood Badge course schedule is very structured, but we have included “copious free time” for you in our planning. That said, we still ask that you please arrive on time and be prepared to start your adventure. Wood Badge is for all Scout leaders. Our course is a very diverse group representing all levels of Scout leaders from all over our council. The staff is looking forward to the unique perspectives each of you will bring to our course and to Scouting. Thank you for taking the time away from your families and work to join us. We promise it will be fun and time well spent! Finally, thank you for all you do for the youth in Scouting.

What is Wood Badge?
Wood Badge is leadership training for all Scout leaders including Cub Scouters, Scouters, Varsity Scouters and Venturing Advisers along with all levels or BSA professional staff. This course draws on the leadership skills developed by the Boy Scouts of America as well as on current leadership and team development models used by corporate America. As a participant in this course, you will learn and develop leadership skills that will enhance your ability to “Deliver the Promise” of Scouting to your youth membership.
